I am an independent dyscalculia assessor and specialist maths tutor with over twenty years’ experience in education. I began my career as a secondary maths teacher before moving into the further education sector, where I worked extensively with learners developing foundational maths skills and those retaking GCSE. Over time, I became increasingly aware of how many learners were struggling with unidentified or unsupported mathematical learning difficulties, which led me to specialise in dyscalculia and maths‑related SpLDs.
In my current practice, I assess children, young people, and adults for specific learning difficulties in mathematics, providing clear, strengths‑based reports and tailored recommendations. As a specialist tutor, I support learners with dyscalculia, maths anxiety, and persistent difficulties with number through highly individualised, multisensory programmes that prioritise emotional safety, concrete understanding, and confidence building.
Alongside assessment and tuition, I train teachers and educational practitioners to develop inclusive maths classrooms and to recognise and support learners with SpLDs in mathematics. I also deliver professional training on identifying and responding to maths difficulties and dyscalculia, helping educators and organisations create environments where all learners can thrive.
