I provide specialist teaching and assessment for individuals who experience difficulties with maths. My work centres on helping each learner build confidence in their abilities and discover strategies that make learning feel achievable and rewarding. I focus on identifying their individual strengths and showing them how to use these to support the areas they find more challenging.
I have over twenty years’ experience in education, starting as a class teacher and maths subject lead. I was also the author of several books for the Folens Maths Scheme, including manuals designed to support learners who find maths more difficult in Years 5 and 6. Having worked extensively in schools, I understand the wide range of abilities, experiences and emotions that people bring to learning maths.
After having children, I trained in the field of dyslexia and specific learning difficulties, combining this knowledge with my ongoing passion for maths education. Since then, I’ve worked as a specialist teacher and assessor across age groups—supporting school pupils, students, and adults alike. In addition to my teaching and assessment work, I mentor other specialist teachers and deliver INSET training and webinars on understanding and supporting those with maths difficulties.
Above all, my goal is to help each learner rediscover a sense of confidence and control in their mathematical thinking—because with the right support, everyone can make progress and even enjoy maths.
